I pretty much adore countryside drives and long walks on misty days, the smell of the sea, dusk with dramatic skies, the sound of an owl, late night snacks, long conversations over spiced rum and ginger ale, finding beauty in the imperfect and surreal, tending to my vegetable patch and watching giant sunflowers turn with the sun, jumping into the sea or a lake at the end of a busy day, watching my kids play from under the shade of a tree, making snow angels and getting a little tickle of ice-cold snow under the collar, the golden treetops of late September and dark winter morning frost. There is nothing minimalist about me, I see way too much beauty in the details and find the real wear and tear of life fascinating. My mind equally needs chaos and calm to thrive.
I married my husband; a poet, ballet dancer, filmmaker called Paul on a rock overlooking the Baltic sea in 1999...and we have 4 boys, two of whom are now adults. Time flies and all that. After living in London U.K. and Victoria, Canada we moved back to my place of birth: Gotland, Sweden a few years ago.
We now live on an organic smallholding just north of the walled city of Visby. Our new home came with acres and acres of woodland, farmland, a meadow!
I am usually the first on the dance floor and cannot sit still even if I try when a good soul track comes on. This occasionally embarrass my kids, as does me crawling in the grass with my camera, to get a good shot.
As an exhibiting photographic artist as well as a wedding and events (and more) photographer, I feel incredibly lucky to be able to work behind the viewfinder, it's not only my work but my passion.
I like love. Love is wonderfully human, with all its many facets and hues. Love wins. Love is the glue.
For weddings I consider myself primarily a documentary photographer with a style that's more on the candid side. I find the best images often happen in the in-between. This type of photojournalism is my favourite.
I try and mix these real moments with a few timeless, relaxed and naturally posed portraits of the wedding couple to deliver a well-rounded collection of beautiful memories for you to treasure forever.
I'm drawn to a film-like quality and still sometimes shoot film. A bit of grain and blur, darkness as well as light and anything else that conveys mood. Emotion, atmosphere, feeling and honest moments are what excites me the most.
Whether your big day is bright and sunny or with dramatic winds and skies I want the finished photographs to reflect the truth about your day, from the locations/settings to the small gestures and the warmth and emotion that was felt amongst you and your guests.
